It’s time for an end to “women’s stories”

The never-ending parade of features about college hookup culture and other “women’s” topics is hurting everyone

Jacqueline Freeman‘s insight:

I found this article and wanted to share it with the World Academy for the Future of Women members in computer lab this afternoon since we’ll be working on their stories of being women tonight and tomorrow in class.  The link kept being redirected to a Baidu (Chinese google) page covered with ads for breast enhancers.  This message "You, the story says, have the opportunity to lead the life of a good woman, if only you do everything exactly right. But the women on the outside of the story, the women who were not interviewed or photographed, do not have this opportunity. They, the story  implies, are already lost." is clearly threatening to the powers that be.  So after many tries, I’m getting the article into a word document to share with my students- but only after we look for it in class so that they can see how they’re being redirected to ads for breast enhancers.

About "Rites O'Passage Ceremony & Coaching

Sheherezade using stories to transform the wounded and vengeful Sultan in 1001 Nights is my inspiration to fold stories and folktales into my coaching practice at Rites O'Passage I taught writing, literature, and women's studies for 13 years and got my start coaching as an academic coach at a medical school. "Women Who Run With the Wolves" stayed on my reading list pretty much the entire time I taught, and coaching gives me the opportunity to hold the classes and workshops I always dreamed of-- using archetypes for emotional alchemy
